Unrelated to the crash, NJMP seems to have a good amount of safe/soft run off area.

Edit - Maybe not enough - I j ust read the drive article where another BMW in that same race (orange) tried to make a horrible pass and ended up crashing out along with another driver.

Where was the guy in the Audi going? Looks like it opens into a straight where there was plenty of time to sort out the order, no need to squeeze the BMW’ s nose.

This is one of the problems I see with all the Lemons/chump car/ crap can racing series. Whereas SCCA and NASA (and BMWCCA and others tend to follow suit) have long established driver training and licencing requirements, these series seem to throw folks out on track with basically nothing more a wink and an admonishment to be good. The skill differential that can be out on track is terrifying. Combine this with a mindset of racing throwaway cars and you get stuff on this level of stupid .

Beyond all the driver training and licencing aiming to ensure some baseline skill level to prevent rolling chicanes from being out on course, it also designed specifically to weed out folks without the situational awareness and/temperament to avoid crashes like this.
